Muzzle Loaders
Hunters interested in hunting with muzzle loading rifles are welcome.
There are some particular regulations to follow, and we will help you through the entire process. The transportation of black powder by private individuals without a valid permit is illegal. We must apply for an acquisition, conveyance and storage of gunpowder permit prior to your safari at Otjandaue. The permit will be made available within 24 hours of application to the office of the Chief Inspector of Explosives and will be valid to the period stipulated in the permit. The following information is needed to acquire the permit:
- The amount of black powder you wish to purchase. This is not to exceed 1 kg.
- The make and serial number of the rifle.
- Arrival and departure dates.
- Copy of Passport and firearm License.
The minimum muzzle velocity required for the following animals are:
- 2700 joules - Eland, Kudu, Oryx, Wildebeest, Hartebeest, All species of exotic game.
- 1350 joules - Small game ( Springbok, Duiker, Steenbok, etc.)
